Kentucky’s “Dixie Boy” will join Fox Sports on Fox Sports 1 channel 8 news
Kentucky is the latest state to announce a major television contract extension with Fox Sports.
Channel 8’s Mike Smith reports the network’s deal with Fox will be worth more than $100 million per year, a significant boost for the Kentucky-based network.
Channel 6 announced a $100m deal with the Fox Sports 2 channel in October, while the Kentucky Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission announced in June a $40m deal.
Channel 7 is also in talks to add another $20m per year deal with a deal that could be finalized in the coming weeks.
The Fox Sports contracts will run through the 2020-2021 season, and will continue through the 2024-25 season.
The networks’ first-tier programming will include “Duck Dynasty” on Fox and a full slate of “Fiesta,” “Dynasty” and “Dancing with the Stars” on ESPN.
The channel 8 agreement also includes “Ducks and Dimes,” a live-action show on Channel 6 and Fox that will air weekly from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m ET.
