Fox 9 News reports on the first time a man has died from a heart attack in a Colorado prison
The Colorado Department of Corrections has confirmed that a man died from the effects of a heart condition, Fox 9 reported.
The man died Sunday afternoon at the Colorado State Penitentiary.
A spokesperson for the Colorado Department said that the man was a former corrections officer who died of a cardiac arrest.
Fox 9’s John Meeks reports.
A spokesman for the state’s Bureau of Corrections, David Ziemek, said the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Colorado prison system spokesman Tim Karp told The Associated Press that the department is in the process of gathering information on the death.
Ziemek said that no arrests have been made and that the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
