Putin: I think the US has to be more careful in its actions [Reuters]
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said the US “has to be careful” in its efforts to undermine Russian President Donald Trump.
Putin, in an interview with the Interfax news agency, said the Trump administration’s attempts to interfere in Russia’s election have “serious consequences” for the country’s stability.
“The US has been very, very aggressive,” Putin said.
“I think it has to stop, but it has no other option but to take care of the consequences for the stability of the country,” Putin added.
Trump has repeatedly dismissed the Russia investigation as a politically motivated witch hunt.
Trump has called the allegations a “witch hunt” by the Democratic Party, saying the FBI is biased against him.
Trump, who has a history of accusing the Obama administration of being hostile to the Kremlin, has said he has the right to pardon himself and former FBI Director James Comey if he believes they have been treated unfairly by the Obama Justice Department.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Putin’s remarks.
